If you doubt that #mwlSecretBook is a thing:
@a_breakin_glass ed(1) IS the standard editor. If you don't know it, you're not a real sysadmin.
@mwlucas why learn ed when you can just learn sed and vi ;)
@mwlucas @a_breakin_glass
Real Men do all their text editing with cat.
@a_breakin_glass @mwlucas
Sed is only useful if you didn't type it correctly the first time. But obviously, if you make a single typo, your Real Sysadmin card goes away forever.
@a_breakin_glass
Nah, they do it with printf. Who needs visual representations of newlines when "/n" will do?
@mwlucas @enkiv2
@a_breakin_glass @mwlucas openbsd's ramdisk doesn't have vi (or mg) but it does have ed
As it should be.
@mwlucas Is the other secret book still on?
@mhka ssshhhh! It's a secret!
@mwlucas @mkha Secret? ed(1) has been around since the origin of the World! s/the World/Unix/ Great book, by the way - only 111* chapters. *binary.
