presentation deadline is coming up on Sunday! Do you do cool stuff with , , (or any )? PS, yes you do. You should submit an abstract for a 45 minute presentation, and give a talk.

Travel, hotel, and entry will be covered for selected speakers!

@phessler So here's a question: if my employer would pay for my travel, would the conference cover the travel expenses for my spouse should I be selected for speaking?

@Keltounet @phessler Oh, darn. I'll probably have to sit this one out, though I _really_ want to go.

@lattera that is something you'll have to discuss with the organizers.

I'm only a friendly person that wants more non-usual-suspects to speak at *bsd cons.

I'd *love* to see more non-usual-suspects give talks at *BSD conferences.

Sure, the usual-suspects do stuff, but SO DO YOU! And we don't already know what you do!

And of course, you *are* cool enough to do this.

@phessler
First Allan and Benedict, now you? Guess I'll have to pick a thing and see if they want me to talk about it now.

@phessler Is there a TSA-style list of "usual suspects"?

@kristapsdz me, henning, and everyone that presents at all of them

@phessler That Henning is on yet another list is no surprise to me... my talk's submitted!

@kristapsdz @phessler Sounds like a business plan: tsastylelist.com, a micro API for managing lists of "usual suspects".

@phessler maybe next year, too busy this year

@phessler @grubernaut BAHAHAHAHA! That actually made me belly laugh outloud!

@phessler

You got me. Despite reading @mwlucas "git commit murder" I've submitted a talk and a tutorial for my first *BSD conference.

@cstrotm @mwlucas that was a purely fictional account, and has no relation to BSDCan or U Ottawa.

Especially not the auction. ;)

@phessler @cstrotm

Totally, 100% made up.

Plus, there's no Tim Horton's in Romania. You'll be fine.

@mwlucas @phessler

100% made up - really? Everything?

I'm pretty sure the Beasties will protect me from the Lycanthropes (but maybe only until I mention that I made peace with systemd even before reading that great novella by @mwlucas ;) )

But I'm feeling brave and I will come ...

@cstrotm @phessler Totally made up.

Just like any novel.

Promise. Cross my heart. Pinky swear.

@_xhr_ @phessler @mwlucas

Great, I'm really looking forward.

I have EuroBSD on my list for more than 10 years and I'm happy that it works this year.

@phessler how many talks do I need to give to become a usual suspect?

@phessler
>Do you do cool stuff with #OpenBSD, #FreeBSD, #NetBSD (or any #BSD)? PS, yes you do.

I don't. Convince me otherwise.

@nixfreak selected meaning all 30ish talks that are for 45 minutes.

@phessler To clarify, my understanding is it is "for the selected speakers". Leaving out "the" makes it sound like only some of the speakers get covered.

(I just figure someone in the "I'm not worthy" camp would assume their travel wouldn't be covered).

Oups, to clarify, _all_ accepted speakers get travel, hotel, and entry covered. Not just keynote or "special" people.

EuroBSDCon is cool. You--yes, you, the one reading these words--should submit a talk. @phessler

@mwlucas @phessler I really think you'd regret coming to see my talk. :blobhalo:

@pmosetc @phessler Nah. I doubt that *you* would pass up the chance to make a Kellogg Serial Console pun.

@mwlucas @pmosetc @phessler Could I atone for my sins by giving the talk again, say... at EuroBSDCon, but put that crucial detail back in?

@kurtm @mwlucas @phessler they won't want to have to type the name twice, kurt

@pmosetc @mwlucas @phessler It'll be fine. They're advanced developers. They know how to cut and paste.

@pmosetc @mwlucas @phessler Actually, the conference will be close enough to the right part of Europe, they might not care about spelling it. :D

@mwlucas @phessler well yeah, I'm not a monster. plus, my slides have a unicorn

@pmosetc @mwlucas @phessler She says she's not a monster, but she looked over my slides, and didn't point out I'd forgotten to mention it. SHE SET ME UP!

@kurtm @pmosetc @phessler

Blame others for your own failings much, dude?

@mwlucas @pmosetc @phessler

You know why I do that?

I LEARNED IT FROM WATCHING YOU.

*pushed @mwlucas under the bus with @pmosetc*

@kurtm @pmosetc @phessler

Exactly!

Find your own path. Don't copy me. Sheesh!

@mwlucas @pmosetc @phessler Didn't you find your own path. So won't I be following your path by finding my own path.

Let's all be different... together!

๐Ÿ˜

@kurtm @pmosetc @phessler

Mastodon has no emoji for "piteous sobbing," so you'll just have to imagine one here.

@mwlucas @pmosetc @phessler Maybe that can be the first bsd.network custom emojo ๐Ÿ˜

@kurtm @pmosetc @phessler Well, we do have a serious use case for it.

@phessler @mwlucas @pmosetc So should the short code be sobbingblob? :D
