I wrote the ar5k driver for 1st gen Atheros wlan under Linux. But everyone stopped caring as soon as there was an official blob driver from the vendor. devs invited me to rewrite my driver and I fell in love with the clean source code, kernel and OS ever since.

@reyk and I, for one, thank you for coming over to but also for your Linux driver which I used for my initial WiFi scanning / probing at work.

@reyk it's rare that I'm able to directly thank a FOSS developer for their work, but thank you for that Atheros driver. It got me away from the issues I had running Windows drivers through ndiswrapper.

@dolus or @thatbrickster will never see this. dt is terminal enough not to care for
@reyk @benis I use OSS drivers with my WIFI. Sorry if you felt unappreciated, but the Linux camp tends to care more about blobs than the BSDs. OpenBSD marginally more so than the others, granted.
