What's your favorite IRC client?
@romanzolotarev Right now I use weechat, before it was irssi. And from time to time I experiment with ii.
@romanzolotarev nowadays it's irssi on my router at home. Played a bit with the one in Opera when, when Opera was still presto. Used Colloquy, when i used a mac, but i am happy, that i don't have to any more and my employer let me use OpenBSD as my main system on my T460s.
@mapet thanks Marc. Kudos to the employer.
@romanzolotarev irssi in tmux
@romanzolotarev used to be epic in screen.
@romanzolotarev irssi in tmux too, though people keep saying that weechat is the better choice by now.
@pkotrcka @romanzolotarev the only thing that hold me on weechat is the encrypted way it stores the password within its config files, thus I don't need to retype my password everytime I get connected to some server and it won't be presented on the configs.. is there something similar for irssi?
@romanzolotarev @pkotrcka one thing I just thought about was to run an external tool from the config file to decrypt an encrypted file that contains my password.. that's what I do with my 'offlineimap' configurations.. but I also don't know if irssi supports this kind of external calls from config file.
@romanzolotarev
irssi is the one I use (when I do irc, which isn't often enough)
@bmeneg @pkotrcka
@romanzolotarev
Weechat serves me well. But it connects to my znc instance...
@romanzolotarev ERC represent.
@romanzolotarev rcirc (part of Emacs)
@romanzolotarev Used to use (he)xchat, but I’ve now been on irssi for a few years.
@romanzolotarev irssi, created a setup/theme/etc. that just works for me years ago and I just stuck with it.
